Infant, Orphan Puppies Thrive
120720-puppy.jpg

One foggy morning, a railway employee was greeted with an unexpected sight while checking the train tracks. In a dry gutter next to the track was a litter of six infant puppies, eyes still closed, mewling for assistance. The public shelter sent out an SOS for these vulnerable pups who would require a lot of extra care to survive.

ARF's rescue team brought them back to our headquarters and the litter was immediately checked out by our veterinary staff. After receiving a clean bill of health, the adorable puppies were sent to volunteer foster homes along with a very special task: bottle feeding. Read more...

Thank You for Another Successful Year

2020 hasn't been easy for anyone. Between adapting to COVID-19 regulations through virtual adoptions and our disaster relief team diving into action during the devastating California wildfires, there was never a slow moment. So we'd like to finish off the year with an enormous thank you to everyone who supported ARF. From those who donated, adopted, volunteered, and beyond, we couldn't have done it without you!

To see the incredible impact of your support, here's a look at our 2019-2020 fiscal year annual report (pdf).

No Pet Deserves to Go Hungry

No pet deserves to go hungry ― least of all this time of year. That's why ARF's FoodShare program delivers pet food, donated by Purina, to qualifying low-income pet guardians. FoodShare also partners with resource centers, like Monument Crisis Center in Concord, CA, to distribute much-needed, free pet food and cat litter directly to needy families.

By providing food to those who cannot afford it ― especially during these times of high unemployment ― ARF is able to help keep pets in loving homes where they belong, and out of overcrowded, municipal shelters.
