Tucker and Milly: Best Friends Forever
5.31Bonded2.jpg

Tucker and Milly were a pair of scared pups found abandoned, tied to a pole in a rural neighborhood. Shying from human contact and barely taking treats, they only showed glimmers of bravery and happiness when together. At ARF, this duo was housed together, ate meals together, and went on walks together, helping open them up to people. An amazing family fell in love with Tucker (and introduced him to his new canine sister Gabby) and took him home. But Milly, now alone, became withdrawn and fearful of her surroundings. She lost interest in treats, fetch, and walks. ARF’s behavior team and trainers went into action working with her to make certain her progress wasn’t lost.  Read more...
Disaster Preparedness and Your Pet
5.29Cat.jpg

Did you know that June is Pet Preparedness Month? If 2017 taught us anything, it’s that you need a plan for when disaster strikes. ARF recommends keeping a “pet go-bag” in your home or vehicle containing food, medicine, a leash and harness, your pet’s information (rabies certificate, vet’s contact information, etc.) and even a special toy or two! Many families often have to evacuate their home with no notice in disaster situations. By prepping a go-bag, you ensure, pets have everything they need.
Feel free to contact the Resource Center with any questions on how to best prepare yourself and keep an eye on ARF’s social media throughout the month for more tips!
Bring your Pup to Bark at the Park

ARF is proud to once again team up with Nylabone and Avoderm to bring Bark at the Park events to MLB Ballparks nationwide. Fans can purchase a special ticket to attend a baseball game alongside their canine companion, with a portion of proceeds benefiting ARF. We’ve had great events in Arlington, Los Angeles, New York, and Milwaukee so far this year, but 2018’s Bark at the Park fun is only beginning. Join us in Oakland on Friday, June 29 as Bark and the Park takes over the Oakland Coliseum. You and your dog will watch the A’s take on the Cleveland Indians, and can even take part in the Pup Parade before the game. Tickets will sell out, so be sure to get yours today!
