Record-breaking June for Adoptions
Chopin

June saw new records in animals adopted at ARF: 305 dogs and cats found loving homes, the most ever in one month. We are grateful for your partnership in our work and know there is more work to be done; many more lives to be saved.

During the summer months, ARF never takes a break from saving lives. It is the crucial time of year when abandoned pets and new litters flood into public shelters in staggering numbers, stretching resources to the limit and forcing heartbreaking choices to be made to accommodate the overwhelming number of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that continue to arrive. Oakland A’s Bark at the Park
Bark in the Park

Bring your pooch to a ballgame! The A’s are hosting Bark at the Park on Friday, July 14 at the Oakland Coliseum as they take on the reigning American League Champion Cleveland Indians. Enjoy special seats in a dog-friendly section of the ballpark, as well as a fun “dog parade” around the field, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting ARF and Dogs4Diabetics. The last day to buy and register your human & dog tickets is July 9. See you there!
Pet Tip: 4th of July Safety
4th of July

While Independence Day usually makes for a fun and carefree day for people, it’s often a dangerous time for our four-legged companions. Fireworks exploding in the air are a particularly scary and confusing experience for animals. Keep them secure inside in a quiet environment with plenty of water. Additionally, playing some calming music to distract them from the booming noise outside can be an easy way to alleviate some of their anxiety. Learn more in ARF’s Pet Care and Behavior Library.
