"Thank You for Saving Us"
The duo of one week-old puppies nudged their tiny black noses closer and closer to their mama’s belly, snuggling tight together for warmth and comfort. It had been a long road for their mom, Roxxy, who had given birth on the floor of her run at the public shelter. Short on space and resources for a nursing mother and such delicate lives, the only option was to house the small family together in an isolated room. When our rescue team spotted the sweet terrier mix and her precious babies, we immediately brought them back to ARF to receive the critical care they needed. Pet Tip: Thanksgiving Safety
We’re thankful every day for our pets, and a great way to show your appreciation this Thanksgiving is by keeping them safe! Prevent pancreatitis by not letting pets overindulge in fatty food prepared with butter and spices. Make sure they don’t ingest bones, which can easily present a choking hazard. Sage (a common ingredient in stuffing) and many other herbs contain essential oils that can cause gastrointestinal distress and nervous system problems for pets if consumed in large quantities. Keep meals limited to their regular diet, and splurge with a safe treat for a happy holiday! For more pet tips, visit ARF's Pet Care and Behavior Library.
