Rescue Under Fire
ARF’s disaster response team couldn’t ignore the plea from the exhausted volunteers at the public shelter. They had gratefully greeted our truckloads of supplies for pets displaced by the blazing Butte wildfire, but conditions were worsening and space to shelter evacuated pets was rapidly running out. Healthy, adoptable animals were suddenly in desperate need of rescue as the volunteers frantically tried to make space for incoming displaced pets. As thick smoke loomed in the sky and helicopters whirred overhead, we filled our vehicles once again for the long ride home, this time with nineteen cats and dogs headed to a new life. Read more...
Pet Tip: Halloween Safety
halloween pet tips.jpg
Boo! Halloween is here, which can quickly turn into a scary night for pet guardians if proper precautions aren’t taken. Beware of chocolate left out where dogs and cats can reach them - they’re tasty to us, but toxic for them. Keep lighted pumpkins away from wagging tails, and place battery-operated lights in them instead of candles to prevent accidental burns. Make sure your decorations and parties are pet-safe, and secure your front door to prevent escapes during the comings-and-goings of trick-or-treaters. For more pet tips, visit ARF’s Pet Care & Behavior Library.
