Making a Difference: Healing Hearts

KixThe veteran waited in ARF’s adoption center, wringing his hands together and anxiously pacing back and forth. He heard the telltale jangle of a dog’s collar, and looked up to see a smiling ARF volunteer leading his new dog around the corner. She walked right to her new guardian and nudged at his hand with her wet nose. Overcome with happiness, he dropped to his knee and began to stroke her ears softly. She stood calmly at his side as he buried his hands in her fur and whispered to her. “It’s okay, girl. We’re going to help each other get better.” Read more...

Holiday Pet Food Drive Helps Keep Families Together

Could you imagine the holiday season without your pet? At ARF, we believe no one should ever have to choose between feeding their pets and feeding themselves, especially during the holidays. Help keep pets in their homes by bringing your donation of unexpired, unopened wet or dry cat or dog food or Pet Food Express gift cards (of any amount) to ARF during this year’s Holiday Pet Food Drive, November 28 - December 28, or donate virtually online. Pet food donations will be distributed to help struggling pet guardians provide for their furry family members. Learn how you can help!

Happy Tails: Max & Cleo

Kitten siblings Max and Cleo aren’t just cute bundles of fur - they’re lifesavers! When their adopter, Kathy, brought them into her life she had no idea they would ever fill any role besides that of beloved pets. But one day while she napped, the kittens bounded on top of her repeatedly, not allowing her to rest. At first she thought they were being playful, but there was an urgency to their frolic that seemed unusual. It was then that Kathy, who is diabetic, realized she wasn’t feeling well and tested her blood sugar. It was dangerously low, and she’d only realized it because of the kittens. “I rescued them, and they rescued me right back,” she says. Read more adoption stories…
